I was enquiring at some different retreats for my partner, and while he decided on something in a different country, I could not fault the communication and level of customer service from Boss. So I just wanted to give him a shoutout!Posted on Google JeanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to all the wonderful people at The Dawn. I came here not knowing if anyone could help me with mental health issues and I leave here feeling so much better and ready to face my life. The staff here are incredible. Thank you.Posted on Google Boss Tanawat N.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Food, Staffs, Counsellors, Facilities, Environment Very very good! Thanks for 3months to make me a sober now and futurePosted on Google Esme BakerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Leaving the Dawn today is such a bittersweet thing. I’ve had the most transformative 2 months here. I called in desperation at the start of the year, having very little faith that I would make a dent in my decades long addiction, but I can honestly say I am leaving here more optimistic than I believed was possible. The staff are so friendly, warm, caring and welcoming from the first moment of contact. If you engage properly with your focal therapist and the classes offered it can truly change your life. If you feel like substance abuse issues have made your life utterly unbearable and pointless, I could not recommend this place more.Posted on Google Gabriela Herrera SanchezTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I really liked the service , well organized and the different programs are amazing!Posted on Google Tom LichfieldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Amazing place, specialising in trauma. 11 times in treatment, this has been the best place at treating a range of MH conditions, as well as behavioural disorders. The staff were amazing, the rooms more than comfortable, and we worked hard and i was never bored. EMDR with Alan was a revelation, and i finally feel I’ve started treating the root rather than a symptom, of 30 years of pain. Thank you to you all.Posted on Google Tavish LightTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Dawn has been a Godsend to me!… not to mention others here also for care and treatment and there’s just a great balance of all aspects life requires provided here with treatment that make all of us feel so at home here so quickly, I made many friends and so many just didn’t want to leave! I could mention so many names of all therapists, nurses, support staff, doctors, and the chefs etc!! But all are truly just so caring and great. I have been and come back just to keep my progress going for all the better every time! I’ve this year spent 10 months here… a total life overhaul for an entirely new me! Sincerely—- thank-you with true love to all at the Dawn and your beautiful caring support that has helped me get my life out of a terrible place I won’t mention online to a place where everything looks so much better into my future beyond my time here. Would highly recommend to absolutely anybody at all!!!!!Posted on Google Kim KuzakTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I chose the Dawn after much research looking for rehabs that offered more than the 12 step approach which simply had not worked for me... I chose the Dawn because it offered help with trauma recovery and mental health in general, and because there was a Buddhist approach as well as the 12 steps. I needed more, and this place seemed to have it. As well, the cost was far less than rehabs in Canada; the final deciding factor was my phone interview with Helen- she got it. She was entirely present, compassionate and wise. I felt safe. I spent 2 months at the Dawn from April - May 2025. The short version is that the experience was life-changing. Not only did I get excellent daily care that included body, mind/emotions and spirit, but I finally started working on the trauma I had held all my life. The food was amazing! The locale was beautiful, the gym was awesome and the weekly Thai massages were the best I've ever had. The counsellors and staff were all absolutely professional, knowledgeable, skillfull, present and compassionate. After years of mental health treatments here in Canada and having been to two rehabs before, at the Dawn I got the best mental health and addiction care I have ever had. I am 65 years old, so I'd been struggling with trauma, depression and addiction for a long long time. Not only that, but there is an aftercare program that is for life! I meet with a therapist run group once a week ( they are offered 2X a week to accommodate different time zones) and I meet with other clients in WhatsAp any time I need to. I really can't say enough about the Dawn.
Our Approach to Addiction Treatment in Thailand at The Dawn
We recognise that drug and alcohol use disorders, behavioural addictions, and mental health challenges all stem from adverse life experiences and unresolved trauma, which needs to be addressed in order to achieve lasting recovery.
Our structured treatment roadmap, informed by decades of clinical work in alcohol rehab and drug rehab settings, guides you through each step of your recovery. Each phase builds on the last to lay a strong foundation for your return to everyday life.
Away from the stressors of daily life, working with your dedicated therapist and supported by our community, you will undergo a deep transformation that targets the source of your struggles, not just the surface symptoms.

CARF is a top-tier acceditation from the United
States, only awarded to rehabs with the highest levels of treatment. CARF ensures:

- Person-centred approach & trauma-informed care
- International standards of care & safety
Our Thailand rehab programme holds a 3-year CARF accreditation, the highest level possible.
We’re fully licensed
Our rehab centre is fully licensed by the Thai Health Ministry. This means The Dawn is regulated and undergoes regular inspections to ensure we meet high standards.
Staying at The Dawn, a Rehab in Chiang Mai
Why is Chiang Mai a good place for rehab recovery?
Our rehab centre in Thailand sits on the outskirts of Chiang Mai, in a riverside setting that removes you completely from the people, places, and situations that contribute to your condition. Chiang Mai offers something most rehab destinations cannot: a peaceful, mountainous setting far from the bars, beaches, and party scenes associated with other parts of Thailand. The distance allows you to focus fully on your recovery, while the calm of northern Thailand supports rather than competes with the work of healing.
Explore our Rehab Centre Thailand
We accommodate a maximum of 30 clients in private, resort-style ensuite rooms. You will have access to a range of facilities including a swimming pool, a fully equipped fitness centre with regular wellness activities like Muay Thai classes, a massage studio, yoga studio, and library. Throughout your stay, you will experience meaningful offsite adventures such as kayaking, cooking classes, and cultural temple tours that support your healing journey.
Our Drug, Alcohol And Mental Health Rehab Programmes
Our Thailand rehab centre treats addiction and mental health through dedicated, separate tracks – each designed for distinct recovery needs. The Dawn’s Signature Trauma Programme
Most rehab centres in Thailand claim that they deal with underlying mental health conditions, trauma and PTSD. In our opinion, this is difficult to address effectively without the appropriate clinical interventions which go beyond traditional talk therapy. Our specialised Trauma Programme is made up of three key components: Trauma-Focused Individual Therapy, Trauma-Focused Group Work, and Trauma-Focused Somatic Work. It is carefully paced to avoid overwhelming you and reduce the risk of retraumatisation.

What is the success rate of rehab in Thailand at The Dawn?
The Dawn measures every client’s progress using clinically validated tools at intake and discharge using the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the GAD-7 anxiety scale.
| What We Measure | % of Clients Who Improved |
% of Clients Who Went from Severe to Mild/Minimal |
|---|---|---|
| Depression (BDI) | 91% | 74% |
| Anxiety (GAD-7) | 85% | 73% |
Outcomes: 2022 to 2025
How much does rehab in Thailand cost?
The cost of rehab in Thailand varies depending on the level of care and the quality of the programme, and what you get for that price can be very different. At The Dawn, you receive full clinical care, an experienced team, and a peaceful, private setting, for a fraction of what you would pay at similar centres in the West.
Here is what makes us different:
- We are the only CARF-accredited rehab in Asia, and we offer personalised treatment plans alongside our signature Trauma Programme.
- Our 24/7 medical care and onsite detox mean you are safe from day one, and you stay in resort-style accommodation designed for rest and recovery.
- You get genuine, one-to-one support from a team that is with you every step.
Because overheads in Thailand are lower, we can provide this level of care at a much more accessible price. For a personalised quote, contact our admissions team.

Frequently Asked Questions About Rehab in Thailand
Clients typically stay an average of 40 – 60 days at our drug rehab in Thailand. The duration of your stay is influenced by multiple factors, such as the severity of your addiction, your personal requirements, and your response to the treatment. For those dealing with co-occurring disorders, we recommend a stay of 90 days to ensure more comprehensive care.
It is different for everyone, but for many, the hardest part is facing what is underneath. Once the drinking or drug use stops, the emotions surface. And it's normal for the things you have been avoiding for years to suddenly demand attention. That is why at The Dawn, we do not just treat the addiction. We help you work through what’s behind it, safely and gently. With 24/7 care, low client-to-staff ratio, and a safe, structured environment, you are supported every step of the way. You do not have to do this alone.
Yes, we provide medically supervised drugs and alcohol detoxification on-site. Our medical team monitors you 24/7 during detox to ensure safety and comfort when dealing with withdrawal symptoms.
Yes. Around half of our clients come to The Dawn for mental health reasons such as trauma, depression, anxiety, or burnout, rather than addiction. You will follow a treatment track designed specifically for your needs, working with the same Western-trained clinical team but not attending the craving-focused sessions designed for addiction clients. Your treatment plan is built around your personal goals and the conditions you are addressing.
For most clients, a standard tourist visa is sufficient for the length of treatment. Many nationalities receive a visa exemption on arrival in Thailand, which covers the typical 4 to 12 week residential stay. For longer programmes, a medical visa may be required, and our admissions team will guide you through the process based on your nationality, planned treatment length, and travel circumstances. You will need a valid passport with at least six months remaining.
Australian clients may be able to access their superannuation early on compassionate or medical grounds to fund residential addiction or mental health treatment. The Australian Taxation Office assesses applications individually, and approval is not guaranteed, but addiction and mental health treatment at an accredited facility commonly qualifies. Our admissions team can guide you on what documentation we can provide to support your super for rehab application.
